Mikey Rogers

Michael "Mikey" Rogers is a human being from the Pokemon canon for the duration of one episode, The Battling Eevee Brothers.

Personality

Mikey has been walked all over by his more outgoing brothers since the moment he was born, and as such has a tendency to run away from his problems. He has gotten a bit more assertive since a pep talk from a passing Pokemon trainer Misty, and being away from home has also forced him to speak up more. It has also forced him to be more independent, as he has mostly gone through life sheltered by his brothers. A pacifist, Mikey prefers Pokemon contests to battles, but battles as a way to prove himself to his brothers and in a tragic attempt to impress Molly. (He has no clue whatsoever when it comes to girls.)

Pre-Roleplay History

Note: This page mixes material from series and video game canon as well as personal fanon. Luckily, Mikey's only appearance was so far back in the Pokemon series (episode 40) that you could consider this page spoiler-free!

Born to a wealthy family in Stone Town, Kanto, Mikey is the youngest of four brothers, about seven years younger than his triplet older brothers Rainer, Pyro, and Sparky. Known as the Eevee Brothers, said brothers each train an 'Eeveelution', and handed Mikey his own Eevee at the age of six in the hopes that he would evolve it into their own preferred Pokemon. After a year of indecision, his brothers threw Mikey and Eevee an 'evolution party' to force him into evolving Eevee. Mikey, however, didn't want to evolve his Eevee, as he didn't care about battles, he merely wanted Eevee to be his best friend, and, as such, hid Eevee in the nearby forest so that he wouldn't have to evolve her at the party.

Unfortunately he forgot to take Eevee's collar off, so when a passing Pokemon trainer by the name of Ash Ketchum and his friends found her, they did the decent thing and returned her to the address on the tag: Mikey's house, the site of the evolution party. After talking to Misty, Mikey decided to tell his brothers that he didn't want his Eevee to evolve, and was about to do so when Team Rocket arrived and stole all the Pokemon, evolutionary stones, and food at the party. In the end, Eevee saved the day and Mikey managed to tell his brothers that he didn't want to evolve Eevee.

About a year after this, Rainer heard that there were few evolutionary stones in Johto and got the bright idea to sell evolutionary stones from the nearby Evolution Mountain in Johto. The family moved from Stone Town to Greenfield, Johto and now run an obnoxiously successful business importing the stones and selling them. Mikey was more interested in Pokemon contests than battles, but felt obliged to be a trainer considering how long his brothers had been waiting for them to be the Four Eevee Brothers, and Eevee's fairly impressive victory against Team Rocket.

Molly Hale is a neighbor of his in Greenfield, and Mikey is utterly smitten with her, making tragic attempts to impress her by one-upping her in Pokemon training. He delayed starting his Pokemon journey until age eleven, and started on the same day as Molly, making the two rivals in training. Like Molly, he did not take a standard starter Pokemon, and instead took Eevee.

Mikey made it to Goldenrod City, catching a Butterfree in the local Bug Catching Contest, and also catching a Psyduck and trading a Drowzee for a Machop in the Goldenrod Department Store. With Machop, he succeeded in winning his first Pokemon League gym badge from Whitney at the Goldenrod Gym, and was on his way to Azalea Town for the Hive Badge. During his trip through Ilex Forest, Mikey stopped to pay his respects at the shrine to Celebi, and, after hearing something musical which in restrospective he thinks may have been Celebi travelling through time, blacked out.

Items

Being a Pokemon trainer, Mikey carries a backpack with a surprising capacity:

  • Johto Pokedex
  • Sleeping bag
  • Snowfoam
  • Three-person tent
  • Portable stove
  • Plastic cutlery
  • Potions (spray medicine for Pokemon)
  • Pokeblock case

Activity in the Digital World

Mikey awoke in Tetha with his Poke Balls missing, his Pokegear replaced with a D-Communicator, and Eevee evolved into a Labramon. Disconcerted by Eevee's unexpected evolution and by his Pokedex refusing to acknowledge the Digimon that surrounded him, Mikey searched for a Pokemon Center, but got distracted by the scent of food and the sight of Mewtwo. Katrina Daniels, the seller of this food, informed him that this was the digital world and not his home world, and allowed him to stay at her home that night. Off-camera, she also taught him how to use the D-Comm, or at any rate its journal function.

About a week later, Mikey and Eevee heard the sounds of a battle and, assuming this was just like any Pokemon battle, went to watch. However, they soon got caught up in the fight between Aeolus's partner Falcomon and Touma Norstein's partner Gaomon, with Falcomon taking Eevee as a hostage only to discard her as a hindrance to his fighting. Despite managing to heal Eevee with a Super Potion, Mikey was shaken by the incident and was more desperate than ever to go home.

Mikey was the first to happen upon Ash Ketchum on the older trainer's arrival in the digital world, and the two quickly rekindled their friendship and are still camping out in Tetha.

This plot is still on-going.
